IMO SOLAS GMDSS Declaration of Shore Based Maintenance (SBM)

ElectroMed is able to supply a Maintenance Contract and Certificate for the purpose of conforming to Chapter IV, Regulation 15 of the amendments to 1974 SOLAS convention concerning GMDSS.

Upon signing a contract, the vessel will receive an ElectroMed Declaration of Shore Based Maintenance certificate fulfilling proof of adequate maintenance for Inspecting Authorities. Compliance with international regulations encompassing GMDSS, IMO and SOLAS.

The concept of the ElectroMed SBM contract was borne out of frustration that many owners have expressed to us over the years. People on board their vessels come and go, as do their ideas on how to run a maintenance program.

The ElectroMed SBM contract provides a comprehensive survey and equipment spares list with a single point of contact for all technical requirements. The contract complies with all international regulations encompassing GMDSS, IMO and SOLAS. Owners can be sure of prompt response for all equipment problems to meet all standards.

Our technical workshops are fully equipped to carry out repairs to all major communication and safety equipment, holding an extensive spares stock and technical library, which helps us meet the dynamic field of Marine Electronics.

Outline of Services

  • The ElectroMed SBM contract sets out a clearly defined maintenance program.
  • Complete inspection of all the equipment under contract enables us to set about a service solution that is unique to your vessel.
  • Complete outsourcing of all service and repair of marine electronics for entire fleets or individual vessels.
  • All equipment under contract is fully checked to ensure that it is operating within specifications and correctly installed and adjusted.
  • A database containing technical manuals, wiring diagrams and service history is created, giving us instant access to your ship's systems.
  • A list of recommended spares is prepared and any onboard spares organized to ensure that if a fault does occur it can be rectified with minimum delay.
  • Single point of contact for all spares requirements and technical problems available 24hrs from people who know the vessel and it's equipment. Via Inmarsat, Email, Phone or Fax.
  • An account is set up to deal with all aspects of service and parts. Our Customs Bonded warehouse holds extensive stock 'Duty Free' ready for immediate dispatch.
  • ElectroMed will continue to monitor your ship's systems throughout the duration of the contract visiting the vessel to ensure operational effectiveness as part of our 'Quality Assurance Program'.
  • The majority of hardware faults are actually problems of incorrect handling. Correct operational and troubleshooting training is provided during each visit to help prevent the need for on site service work.
  • Automatic notification of software upgrades and modifications as required.
  • Immediate access via our head office to Companies Worldwide for service and repairs.
  • Special rates and discounts on invoices.
  • Priority service over non account customers.
  • Annual Summary Report of reliability and servicing costs for each item of equipment.
  • One annual contract fee to cover all the vessel's equipment service co-ordination needs tailored to suit the demands of the vessel.
  • Full co-ordination of all warranty work and repairs carried out by local area representatives.

Cost

An annual contract fee is payable prior to commencement of co-ordination services.

An initial deposit is also required for the purpose of setting up an ElectroMed account. Special visits and servicing arrangements will then only be carried out when requested.

Various levels of contract are available to suit your needs from a complete maintenance program inclusive of travelling, labour charges and spare parts, to a basic contract that benefits from priority service and ElectroMed co-ordination for all your servicing needs.
