The Iridium Satellite System is the only provider of truly global, truly mobile satellite voice and data solutions with complete coverage of the Earth (including oceans, airways and Polar regions). Through a constellation of 66 low-earth orbiting (LEO) satellites operated by Boeing, Iridium delivers essential communications services to and from remote areas where terrestrial communications are not available. The service is ideally suited for industrial applications such as heavy construction, defence/military, emergency services, maritime, mining, forestry, oil and gas and aviation. Iridium currently provides services to the United States Department of Defence and launched its commercial service in March 2001.

Direct Internet Data

Direct Internet Data Service provides connectivity from a PC, through your Iridium phone, directly to the Internet through dedicated servers at the Iridium gateway. This service utilizes transparent compression, resulting in a data rate of up to 10 Kbps, depending on content. (Graphics and images will result in lower throughput).

ElectroMed is an Inmarsat partner and can provide service activation and accounts for all Satcom products including the new Fleet77 system with high speed data service.

Fleet77 combines the high quality and speed of a 64kbit/s Mobile ISDN service with the world's first global maritime Mobile Packet Data service via satellite, to deliver e-mail, secure Internet and intranet access and voice, making it possible to operate a truly mobile office at sea.
